The project
An upholstery studio with two ateliers, a growing reputation and a business entering a new phase.
The owner is preparing to move from part-time to full-time while also taking over an established business with its own history and identity. This creates a need for more structure: a clearer marketing direction, a stronger social presence, a simple digital home and a content approach that can support what comes next.
I was brought in to help shape that next chapter.
The collaboration covers marketing strategy, social media, content production and a focused landing page. Rather than treating each as a separate task, I'm approaching the work as one connected system: how the business presents itself, how people discover it and how that attention becomes an enquiry.
Because the collaboration is still getting underway, this case study documents the thinking behind the work rather than finished results.
The opportunity
The studio has plenty of material to build a strong visual story around: two ateliers, upholstery in progress, fabrics, tools, hands, materials and finished pieces.
What is missing is a clear identity and structure to bring those elements together.
The studio currently has several Instagram accounts, each representing a different part of the work, but no overarching story connecting them. There is also no single digital destination bringing the business, its work and its offer together.
Alongside this, the owner is taking over an established business with its own history and recognition. The challenge is to create a clearer identity for the studio while making space for a business that already has a story of its own.
The opportunity is therefore bigger than improving social media or creating a landing page. It is about building a marketing structure that can connect the different parts of the business and support its next stage of growth.
The approach
I'm approaching the collaboration by looking at the business as a whole rather than starting with individual deliverables.
The work considers the existing social accounts, their audiences, the visual material available, the questions customers have before requesting a quote and the journey from first discovering the studio to getting in touch.
The strategy is focused on:
- Defining who the business is speaking to
- Giving each social channel a clear role
- Developing a more recognisable visual and editorial direction
- Creating a clearer path from social content to enquiries
- Building a content system that is realistic to maintain
- Finding a way for the studio and newly acquired business to exist within a coherent wider structure
The aim is to make the marketing feel clearer from the outside and more manageable from the inside.
A home for the work
The collaboration also includes a simple landing page.
Rather than building a large website, the immediate need is a clear online destination that can explain the business, show the work and process, answer common questions and make it easy for potential customers to take the next step.
I'm building the page myself using AI-assisted tools, allowing the business to move from strategy to a working, on-brand site without a lengthy development process.
The page is intended as a practical first layer of infrastructure: easy to update now, with room to evolve as the wider identity and business take shape.
Content and next steps
Content production is part of the wider system. The goal is to turn the everyday reality of the business into a consistent visual story built around the craft, process, people, spaces, materials and transformations.
The project is still unfolding, so there are no finished results to report yet. The work is being built around clearer brand direction, more intentional social channels, a sustainable content system, a stronger path to quote requests and foundations that can support both businesses as they grow.
I'll document the outcomes as the collaboration develops.
